Youth Parliament
Youth Parliament is an annual event conducted by Kendriya Vidyalayas, which are central government schools in India. It’s a simulated parliamentary debate competition where students participate as members of parliament, discussing and debating various topics related to governance, politics, and social issues.
The event aims to:
- Develop leadership skills and public speaking abilities among students.
- Foster critical thinking, research, and analytical skills.
- Encourage students to engage with current events, politics, and governance.
- Promote teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
During the event, students take on roles such as Prime Minister, Opposition Leaders, and Members of Parliament, and engage in debates, discussions, and voting procedures, mirroring the actual Indian Parliamentary system. Youth Parliament is an excellent platform for Kendriya Vidyalayas students to learn about democracy, governance, and civic responsibilities while developing essential life skills.
